Elkins Marine Training International Nigeria (Africa)
This course is designed to provide delegates with the level of knowledge needed to be competent in the use of VHF/HF/MF radiotelephony, telex, satellite procedures and equipment used commercially in the GMDSS. All GMDSS equipment's are available at Elkins Marine. Including Live functional real hardware like VHF, EPRIB, SARTS, GPS, Electric charts and many more.
Our Sim center simulates Search and Rescue Operations (SAR Training), distress and many others situations.
This course covers the mandatory training requirements for the General Operator’s Certificate for GMDSS Radio Personnel. It is based on the provisions of section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code and derived from IMO Model Course 1.25 The course is approved by the US Coast Guard. Successful completion leads to the award of a US Coastguard (International certification) and also NIMASA Certificate of Completion (Proof of Passing Certificate).
2. Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC) for GMDSS
This course is designed to provide delegates with the level of knowledge needed to be competent in the use of VHF radiotelephony procedures and equipment used commercially in the GMDSS
This course covers the mandatory training requirements for the Restricted Operator’s Certificate for GMDSS Radio Personnel. It is especially recommended for personnel operating fishing vessels in inshore waters and voluntary fit vessels such as recreational craft, who may not be subject to the requirements of the STCW Convention. It is based on the provisions of section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code and derived from IMO Model Course 1.25

This is an intensive course which includes theoretical and practical training using the latest simulator technology in our GMDSS classroom.
Our GMDSS covers three main areas:
1. Regulations and procedures
2. Demonstration and maintenance of equipment
3. Safety of Life at Sea' and practical operations
The certificate qualifies the holder to operate a suitably licensed marine radiotelephony, radio telex or satellite mobile earth station.
Our certificates are international certificates that can be used around the world.
Students will acquire detailed practical knowledge of the equipment of a ships station, Digital Selective Calling (DSC), the principles of Narrow Band Direct Printing, Telex over Radio Systems and to INMARSAT systems.
Operational procedures and practices and the satisfactory exchange of communications relevant to the safety of life at sea are also covered in the syllabus.
The Simulator and equipment used at Elkins Marine are from Transas marine and DNV Approved.
