The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code is an amendment to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention (1974/1988) on minimum security arrangements for ships, ports, and government agencies.

This 3 in 1 course includes an introduction to the background of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), the roles of the company security officer (CSO) and ship security officer (SSO), security requirements and security administration.


 Ø  undertaking regular security inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are maintained;

Ø  maintaining and supervising the implementation of the Ship/Vessel Security Plan, including any amendments to the plan;

Ø  coordinating the security aspects of the handling of passengers and/or cargo and ship’s stores and bunkers with other shipboard personnel and with the relevant Port/Facility Security Officers;

Ø  proposing modifications to the Ship/Vessel Security Plan to the CSO;

Ø  reporting to the CSO any deficiencies and non-conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security inspections and verifications of compliance and promptly implementing any corrective actions;

Ø  enhancing security awareness and vigilance on board;

Ø  ensuring that adequate training has been provided to shipboard personnel, as appropriate;

Ø  reporting all security incidents;

Ø  coordinating implementation of the Ship/Vessel Security Plan with the CSO and the relevant P/FSO;

Ø  ensuring that security equipment is properly operated, tested, calibrated and maintained;

Ø  Ensuring consistency between security requirements and the proper treatment of vessel personnel affected by those requirements; and

Ø  Ensuring TWIC programs are in place and implemented appropriately.

Ø  Develop, maintain, and supervise the implementation of a Port Facility Security Plan;

Ø  Assess security risk, threat, and vulnerability;

Ø  Undertake regular security inspections of the port facility to ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented and maintained;

Ø  Ensure that security equipment and any systems, if any, are properly operated, tested, and calibrated.

Ø  Encourage security awareness and vigilance
